Koppelstein in Rhineland-Palatinate

The Koppelstein nature reserve is in the vicinity of the town of Lahnstein in the Rhine-Lahn district. The area of around 87 hectares was placed under nature conservation in 1980. It comprises slate rocks, dry and semi-dry grasslands, fallow land, extensively used grassland, wetlands, and warm dry forest communities. It provides a habitat for a variety of butterflies (approximately 550 species), birds, orchids, and other plants. The reserve is also well developed for tourism by paths and offers visitors a beautiful view of the Rhine valley.

Christine Schleif of the BUND district group Rhein-Lahn has overseen the site since 2020, you can find more information at www.rhein-lahn.bund-rlp.de.
